Barnes Park Aquatic Center — October 2026 Project Update
SGV PUB continues working with the City of Monterey Park to advance the rebuilding of the Barnes Park Aquatic Center, including plans for a modern, competition-capable swimming and diving facility.
Following recent meetings with the City's Aquatic Center Subcommittee and Councilmember Thomas Wong, our immediate priority is securing Partnership Letters and Funding Commitments by November 13, 2026, supporting the City's application for up to $8.5 million in state grant funding, due December 17, 2026.
The City is also considering renaming the project the Monterey Park Aquatic Center, reflecting its role as a regional aquatic facility. The final name, including the choice between Aquatic Center and Aquatics Center, remains under consideration.
Community organizations, businesses, and potential funding partners are encouraged to contact SGV PUB to help make this project a reality.
